It's your lucky day!
Here, I intend to thrill you with accounts of my daring-do. "Sarah reads Tolstoy" and "The day I dyed" are just a sample of the many epic titles that await you.
Bachelor Party
So, back in july, two good friends, aaron and emily, got married! Rene was in charge of the bachelor party, which he asked me to crash with the other ladies in the company. every summer, there is a young company theatre camp that comes to the blackfriars(YCTC). emily was a camper several years ago. the ladies and i decided to dress up as campers from YCTC to crash the boys' party. (aaron was not dating emily when she was a high school camper, but we still thought it would be hilarious--we were right!)
we brought wine coolers and blow pops and stayed in character for most of the night. included are photos from the bachelor party and the wedding!
LUAU
So, the touring troupe, Piercing Eloquence, is leaving in a week so i decided to throw a farewell LUAU for them (with lots of help :-) ). I saw the sunrise for the first time since being back in Virginia last night .
It was a really big success. we had grass skirts, coconut and flower bras, leis, tiki torches, lanterns decorating the lawn and a special corner for some racy photo ops (if you know what I mean?)
Loads of people actually showed up at the party and had a blast, which is essential for any gathering, Thomas made jungle juice, which took us all back to good times at frat parties in college. plus, there was a slip 'n slide that led into an inflatable pool in the backyard. it was one hell of a party!
Kings Dominion
Ahhhh...just got back from a rockin good time at KD--it is AMAZING!!! and the number of people in the park was actually perfect--the most i ever had to wait to ride a ride was 20 minutes--that was only once and the rest of the time the wait was 5 minutes or less. awesome! greg and alyssa came along (as did many others), but this is particularly amazing because greg just had knee surgery two weeks ago, is still walking around in a fliexible cast and could only ride three of the rides(that didn't require him to bend his knee). he hobbled along with all of us all day and was really a trooper.
My favorite was the volcano--i rode it three times. the dominator--also amazing, and we renamed it "the dominatrix", which added glee to all of our days! i had pizza and beer and got lots of sun--what an incredible day off.
My friend Charles has never been to a theme park - We are soo doing that when he comes back to the States! He's been on this earth far too long to have never ridden a rollercoaster--it's really pathetic and disappointing.
Pimps 'n' Ho's
I spent New Years at a pimps and hos party at Gerrit and Leah's friend's home in dallas.
I decided not to go "all out" ho, so my outfit resembled more of an escort that had fallen on hard times and was using a pimp, but was bitter that she had to do so.
Gerrit, of course, was my pimp, although i was being negotiated for all nite long. Gerrit, aka "El Guapo" never gave me up, though. he knows which hos to hold onto. he sold off his gay ho and kept me and his wife.
it was lots of fun and we played and stayed at the party until 4:30 in the morning.
Christmas Elf?
I went to a party at gerrit and leah's the other night.. made some kick ass crab and chicken(separated the meats..) enchiladas that everyone raved about...and homemade salsa, of course. their neighbor in the loft building that they reside in is a photographer and he offered to take shots of us as the night went on...very cool. we got to do solo and group shots. i particularly like the one that i call my "mischievous elf" look....very christmasey if you ask me!
MargaritaBall
Did i tell you about this event?
Every year, the Dallas Margarita Society (how cool is it that they have one of those?) hosts a charity margarita party in dallas at the Adams Mark Hotel. The hotel is HUGE and they take up three floors.
You have to get an invite, and then you bring a toy to donate. it is absolutely fantastic-and this was my first time ever attending the event. Plus, the dress attire is formal, so it's a good excuse to look all snazzy.
One floor is dancing and cover bands, one floor for jazzy music and smoking, and one floor for casino gambling. Plus, all the margaritas are free! Granted, they aren't top shelf, but they are free but they also ran out of margaritas at 10:30 PM, which kinda sucked.
But, they did have other bars. and they have a midnite breakfast, which is pretty cool. anywhere between 9 and 12 thousand people come to this event. wow.
Hyatt Today, Tomorrow the World
You all know Jessica, well maybe you don't .. but you will.
She's way too modest to big up her standup so you just check out her funny shit, and see if your ass cracks up too!
The Walking Wounded
here they are after one week! my mom is shocked at how well i am healing, especially since i am a smoker. Apparently we aren't known to heal well, but i DEFY that!
While i have been healing, i have received much joy from all of the people asking me what happened...grocery store clerks, random strangers, convenience store clerks. if i happen to be out with a person of the male persuasion, i just answer, "he beats me". usually this gets a pause and then a laugh as i am pretty sure women who actually get beaten never tell random strangers that that is the case. i then tell them, "it's okay, though...he sends me flowers the next day and tells me that he really loves me"
this has provided me with countless minutes of entertainment over the last week. not sure how i am going to top this incident in my dear diary section, but i will try!
